Pakistan’s Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and President and Group CEO of PTCL, Hatem Bamatraf, recently convened to discuss critical telecommunications matters. Among the topics on the agenda were the rollout of 5G technology, right-of-way issues, and the vital aspect of fiberization within the sector.
During the meeting, Minister Khawaja underscored the telecommunications sector’s pivotal role in the national economy. She emphasized the urgency of advancing initiatives such as 5G deployment and addressing other pertinent issues within the telecom domain.
President Bamatraf expressed a keen interest in enhancing bilateral relations between Pakistan and the UAE, signaling a commitment to collaboration and mutual growth in the telecommunications sector.
In a separate engagement, Minister Khawaja met with Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, to discuss various initiatives aimed at empowering Pakistan’s youth in the IT sector. Discussions encompassed IT graduate training programs, support for startups, and the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry in the IT field.
Khawaja highlighted the invaluable contribution of Pakistan’s youth and stressed the need to effectively showcase their talents on the global stage. This emphasis on youth empowerment and skill development reflects the government’s commitment to nurturing a competitive and vibrant IT ecosystem in Pakistan.
