Zong and Mashreq Bank Pakistan have entered into a strategic partnership that will enable Mashreq customers to access a range of Zong telecom services directly through the Mashreq mobile application, marking another step in the growing convergence of financial services and telecommunications across Pakistan’s digital landscape. The collaboration follows a broader industry trend in which digital banks and telecom operators are embedding each other’s services into unified platforms, reducing the friction of switching between multiple applications for everyday transactions.

Under the partnership, Mashreq customers will be able to perform mobile recharges, purchase bundle subscriptions, and complete other telecom-related payments for Zong services without leaving the Mashreq app. The integration has been designed to deliver real-time, secure, and seamless transactions through a single digital interface, addressing the growing consumer preference for consolidated digital service experiences that combine banking and lifestyle utilities within one platform. The move extends Mashreq Bank Pakistan’s existing strategy of embedding everyday services into its digital ecosystem, having previously partnered with Ufone earlier this year in a similar arrangement, while simultaneously supporting Zong’s stated direction of evolving from a conventional telecom operator into a broader technology-driven service enterprise.

Faheem Durrani, Executive Director of Sales and Distribution at Zong, stated that the partnership reflects the company’s continued focus on expanding digital access and enhancing customer experience through technology enablement, adding that integrating telecom services into Mashreq’s ecosystem makes essential services more accessible while advancing Zong’s journey within Pakistan’s digital landscape. Muhammad Hamayun Sajjad, Chief Executive Officer of Mashreq Pakistan, described the collaboration as consistent with the bank’s commitment to simplifying everyday banking and lifestyle services for its customers, noting that as demand for mobile services continues to grow, the Zong partnership enables customers to manage essential telecom needs in a convenient and secure manner from within the Mashreq app. The partnership paves the way for more integrated and interoperable digital solutions across Pakistan, with both companies positioning the collaboration as a model for how financial institutions and telecom operators can work together to deepen digital adoption and improve service accessibility nationwide.
