Zong 4G has partnered with Dawn Media Group for the ‘Breathe Pakistan International Climate Change Conference,’ a groundbreaking two-day event aimed at addressing Pakistan’s climate resilience. The conference, held on February 6 and 7, 2025, at the Islamabad Convention Centre, brought together international and local experts, government officials, corporate leaders, and innovators to shape a sustainable future for Pakistan.
The event was a collaborative effort involving key stakeholders, including the United Nations, the Government of Punjab, and the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as principal partners. With more than 90 speakers from 11 countries, the conference featured over 15 dynamic sessions focused on critical issues such as climate resilience, energy efficiency, and sustainable development.
One of the key highlights of the summit was the ‘Roundtable Symposium: Igniting a Dialogue Between Government & Corporate Sector on A New Blueprint for Climate Resilience in Pakistan.’ The session, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, served as a vital platform for high-level discussions on the future of Pakistan’s climate strategy. Among the notable participants was Zong 4G’s Head of Strategy, Communication & Sustainability, Nabila Yazdani, who emphasized the importance of leveraging innovation and technology to combat climate change.
“We at Zong believe in addressing climate change with innovation and compassion—combining cutting-edge technology with environmental responsibility,” said Nabila Yazdani. “It is about creating a future that is technologically advanced, environmentally sustainable, economically viable, and socially responsible. This conference provides a vital platform to collaborate with policymakers and industry leaders in shaping a greener Pakistan.”
Zong 4G has been at the forefront of sustainable practices, integrating green energy solutions into its operations. The company has solarized over 1,000 cell sites and transitioned more than 12,000 sites to lithium-ion batteries, significantly reducing its carbon footprint while ensuring seamless connectivity. Additionally, Zong 4G has invested in an energy-efficient, Rated-3 certified data center, which has played a crucial role in cutting down greenhouse gas emissions.
Beyond its corporate sustainability efforts, Zong 4G has also been actively involved in disaster relief and community support initiatives. During the recent floods in Sindh and Balochistan, the company swiftly restored connectivity in affected areas, ensuring vital communication channels remained operational for families, rescue teams, and government agencies. Moreover, Zong 4G organized over 30 free medical camps in flood-hit regions, providing more than 13,000 free consultations to those in need.
The ‘Breathe Pakistan’ conference served as a crucial forum for developing actionable strategies to build a climate-resilient nation. With an extensive lineup of industry leaders, policymakers, and global experts, the event underscored the need for collective efforts in combating climate change. Through such partnerships and initiatives, Zong 4G continues to play a pivotal role in driving Pakistan toward a more sustainable and resilient future.
