NED University of Engineering and Technology has announced an increase in its admission capacity for the 2026–27 academic session, adding 140 new seats to bring the total to 3,156. Admissions for the upcoming academic year will open on March 30, 2026, with the online application portal remaining active until May 29. Registrar Dr. Ghazanfar Hussain stated that the entry test will be conducted in two phases, with the first from June 4 to June 7 and the second expected in the first week of July.
Candidates are required to secure at least fifty percent marks to pass the entry test. Merit for admission will be calculated with sixty percent weightage for the entry test results and forty percent for first-year intermediate results. In addition, the university has reduced five self-finance seats, bringing the total to 159, which have been reassigned to the merit category.
The finance committee has proposed a ten percent increase in tuition fees. Semester fees are expected to rise from Rs. 51,930 to Rs. 57,000, while students will pay approximately Rs. 123,000 at the start of the first semester, covering admission and other charges. The admission fee is also proposed to increase from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 28,000. Local self-finance fees have been revised to Rs. 890,000, and sponsored self-finance fees will increase to Rs. 1,100,000.
Seats have been expanded across multiple categories, including Karachi Board, A-Level, Aga Khan Board, minority quota, and various regional allocations. Furthermore, NED University will introduce two new programs at its Thar campus: BS English and BS Management Sciences. The university emphasized that the increased seats and revised fee structure are part of its ongoing efforts to enhance access to quality engineering and technology education while ensuring merit-based opportunities remain available for students across Pakistan.
