WorldCall Telecom Limited (WTL) has announced that it will work with Tufa Telecommunications to modernise its telecommunications infrastructure in 20 major cities using the Fibre to the Home (FTTH) platform and blockchain technology. The change will result in faster internet speeds and better customer service.

FTTH is a trustworthy and fast service used by millions of people all over the world.

“This (FTTH) offers each (household and business) user with a dedicated internet connection. It is utilised to increase consumer internet speed,” said IT expert Noman Said to The Express Tribune.

Fiber, which is essential for high-speed internet, is missing from old cable. In Pakistan, four to five ISPs out of eight are now using FTTH technology,” he said.

The agreement will result in constant broadband access by maximising the current fiber-optic network’s capacity.

The IT Ministry has already approved 7 Internet infrastructure projects worth Rs. 4.8 billion, as well as 9 Fiber Optic projects, in line with the Digital Pakistan goal.
