The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Lahore has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with InvoZone, a software technology company, aimed at strengthening industry academia linkages and creating direct opportunities for students. The agreement was signed on August 13, 2026, and is intended to provide University of Lahore students with internships, industrial visits, research and development collaboration, and joint training programmes for both faculty and students.
The MoU was signed by Professor Dr. Mehtab Afzal, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Lahore, and Furqan Aziz, CEO of InvoZone, formalizing a partnership that university officials described as an important step toward bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. The signing ceremony was also attended by Dr. Atif Ikram, Muddassir Ahmed Bajwa, who serves as Convener for Industry Academia Linkages, and Sidrah Naheed, bringing together representatives from both the university’s academic leadership and its industry engagement structure.
University officials expressed appreciation for Furqan Aziz’s support and commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry, framing the collaboration as a meaningful opportunity to expose students to real world technology work through structured, ongoing engagement with a private sector partner rather than one off events. The partnership is expected to give computer science and IT students at the University of Lahore more direct pathways into practical, industry facing experience during their degree programmes.
The agreement adds to a broader pattern of Pakistani universities formalizing structured partnerships with local technology companies as a way of improving graduate employability and keeping academic curricula aligned with evolving industry needs. University representatives said they look forward to a productive and impactful collaboration that contributes to the professional development of students while further strengthening the connection between academia and Pakistan’s growing technology industry, an area where formal industry linkages have increasingly become a differentiator for university departments competing to place graduates in competitive technical roles.
