UK Home Department has cancelled the visa of social media influencer Rajab Butt following concerns over incomplete documentation and undisclosed legal matters in Pakistan, bringing uncertainty to his future residency in the United Kingdom. Rajab Butt, a popular content creator on TikTok and YouTube, has been in hiding in Pakistan for several months while facing charges related to allegedly promoting a gambling application. The influencer previously held a valid UK visa until 2027, but authorities said he failed to inform the Home Office about the ongoing legal proceedings, which influenced the decision to revoke his residency permit.

British authorities issued a formal written notice to Rajab Butt indicating that his visa cancellation was linked to his concealment in Pakistan while a case under Section 295C was registered against him. According to the Home Office, the influencer did not disclose this legal case when applying for or renewing his visa, which is a requirement for foreign nationals seeking residency in the UK. The move reflects stricter checks on visa holders with pending legal matters abroad, particularly when those issues relate to national or public interest concerns, or could influence compliance with UK immigration laws.

The cancellation coincides with broader discussions between Pakistan and the UK on the management of citizens living illegally in the UK and the repatriation of individuals involved in spreading anti-Pakistan content. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently met British High Commissioner Jane Marriott to address these issues, presenting extradition documents for individuals including Shehzad Akbar and Adil Raja. The minister emphasized that while Pakistan supports freedom of expression, the dissemination of false information or content intended to harm state institutions would not be tolerated. These developments highlight the growing scrutiny of public figures and digital influencers whose actions can attract international attention.

Rajab Butt has responded to the visa cancellation by stating his intention to appeal the Home Office decision. He confirmed that he has consulted legal counsel and plans to submit a formal appeal to challenge the revocation. Observers note that the case underscores the importance for social media personalities to comply with both local and international regulations, particularly when their activities involve cross-border digital platforms and legal frameworks. The outcome of Rajab Butt’s appeal is expected to influence discussions around residency requirements for influencers and public figures navigating complex legal challenges between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
