Pakistan’s startup ecosystem is thriving, as proven by Pakistani entrepreneurs raising millions of dollars in funding from outside investors in the last year, helping them to turn their ideas into reality.

The Pakistani startup ecosystem has had a good year, according to StartupBlink’s “International Startup Ecosystem Index 2021,” jumping seven places to 75th overall and second in South Asia.

Islamabad has climbed 122 places to 437th place globally, and is ranked 15th in South Asia for startup activity.

Karachi, on the other hand, has fallen seven places to 268th in the world and is now ranked seventh in South Asia.

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 criteria, the grade has improved, suggesting a long history of entrepreneurs who have built successful enterprises using the startup model. The fact that the majority of Pakistani cities increased their ranks this year, while two new cities entered the competition, is perhaps the most revealing evidence of the country’s entrepreneurial growth.

Pakistan has a total of eight cities ranked among the top 100 cities in the world. Jhelum, which is ranked 6th in the country and 988th globally, and Multan, which is ranked 7th in the country and 990th globally, are two new entrants to the list.

Pakistan now has 41 startups, up from 32, with a total investment value of $65.7 million, up from $47.5 million.
