The Corporate Coalition for Viral Hepatitis Elimination, SensusDx, and Ferozsons Laboratories Limited have teamed up to host the first-ever Hepatitis C eradication hackathon. The hackathon intends to bring together innovators, health hackers, entrepreneurs, and medical specialists to create solutions to stop the disease from spreading in Pakistan.

Pakistan has the world’s second-highest HCV prevalence rate. Hep C affects around 11 million people in the United States, and the illness claims the lives of 64 people every day. While the disease is treatable in most cases, the high transmission and fatality rates in the country are due to a lack of awareness and late diagnosis.

The Corporate Coalition for Viral Hepatitis Elimination was founded in 2019 to enhance Hepatitis C awareness, education, and treatment for coalition employees, their families, and the wider Pakistani community. Around 18 governmental and commercial sector institutions are involved in the partnership, which employs more than 160,000 people. The Corporate Coalition has collaborated with Teamup, an incubation and acceleration platform that has been running the National Incubation Center in Islamabad with its partners Jazz and Ignite since 2016.Over the previous five years, Teamup has worked with over 200 companies, offering marketing, investment, legal, and product development help, among other services.
