Sony Announces the Dual SIM T2 Ultra

Sony announced its new phablet portfolio, Xperia T2 Ultra and T2 Ultra dual. The Xperia T2 Ultra has massive 6-inch Triluminos screen, with a pixel resolution of 720×1280. The thin, 7.6mm phablet is powered by a quad-core, 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of microSD-expandable (up to 32GB extra) native storage. The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra is slated for a global roll out, and is expected to hit markets in China, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. 

 

China Opening Foreign Ownership in Telecom Services

Chinese state-owned news agency announced that China is opening telecom and internet services to foreign ownership. Full foreign ownership will be made permissible in China in five areas of telecom and internet, including call centers and home internet access. While firms related to online data and analysis services will have a cap of 55 percent foreign ownership. 

 

Facebook Might Launch a Flipboard-like Reader App Called Paper

Facebook’s long-rumored news reading app will be launched with the name Paper. The Paper news reading app will either be a standalone app for mobile or a website optimized for smaller screens. Facebook’s Paper, like Flipboard, will aggregate content, including news from The New York Times, The Washington Post and other major dailies. 

Intel’s Arizona Chip Factory on Hold 

Construction on one of Intel’s most heralded factories is being put on hold indefinitely. The company’s “Fab 42” manufacturing plant in Chandler, Arizona, which was slated to make high-tech microchips, will not be opening up for shop anytime soon. According to Intel spokesman, Chuck Mulloy, the new construction will target future technologies and currently it’s been left vacant.

 

Google Buys Nest for $3 Billion 

Google Inc.’s $3.2 billion acquisition of the digital-thermostat makes comfort zone for venture capitalists.   Google Ventures, which invested in Nest and operates as an independent company within Google, will keep the returns.
