Salam Saudis – Say Telecom Companies 

PTA has extended an invitation to Saudi telecom companies and entrepreneurs to participate in the auction of 3G telecommunication licenses.  Pakistan expects to earn an estimated $2 billion with the auction of these licenses. Norwegian telecom conglomerate Telenor, China Mobile and Pakistan-based Mobilink have already shown interest in bidding for the 3G licenses.

 

How Many Ways to Love Thee, oh Mobilink

Mobilink has partnered with Pepsi to launch new kind of vending machines. Mobilink has started to deploy such vending machines in Lahore and Islamabad, mainly in the universities. But we believe the idea can replicated at various other locations and for other consumer products as well.

Rakuten Buys Out Viber 

Rakuten, has said that it has bought Viber – a phone messaging and call service – for USD 900 million.  Rakuten has plans to integrate Viber with its digital products while a game platform on Viber is also on the cards. Rakuten is controlled by Japanese billionaire Hiroshi Mikitani, who believes that e-commerce will become a more communication-based transaction in future.

Zong’s Circle Gets a Car

ZonG’s new offer, titled “Circle sey Jeeto – Aik Baat Phir,” effective from 12th February 2014 till 15th March, 2014 will allow customers to stay connected at very affordable rates. It will also see through lucky customers win Pakistan’s first Hybrid Sports Car, the 1500 CC Honda CRZ along with many other exciting prizes.
