The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan has launched its inaugural E-Commerce Training Programme in partnership with the Christian Business Fellowship Pakistan, bringing together 80 entrepreneurs at Cathedral Church in Lahore on August 14. The event was attended by PASHA Chairman Sajjad Syed, alongside TDAP Chief Executive Faiz Ahmed and TDAP Director General Rafia Syed, marking a collaborative push between Pakistan’s trade promotion body and the country’s IT industry association to expand digital economy skills among a wider entrepreneurial base.

The programme was designed to equip participants with the practical skills and knowledge needed to embrace opportunities within the digital economy, reflecting TDAP’s broader mandate under the Ministry of Commerce to facilitate and promote international trade through capacity building initiatives. TDAP has a long running history of organizing similar awareness seminars and workshops aimed at educating Pakistani business communities on evolving global market conditions and trends, and this session extended that approach specifically into e-commerce, an area where many small and medium businesses continue to face gaps in digital readiness.

During the event, PASHA Chairman Sajjad Syed addressed the gathering, highlighting the potential of e-commerce and technology in creating opportunities for entrepreneurs across Pakistan. His remarks tied the training directly to PASHA’s ongoing efforts to expand digital literacy and technology adoption among businesses outside the traditional IT sector, an approach that mirrors similar skill building partnerships the association has pursued with other government and industry bodies in recent years. The training session also coincided with Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations, with the event concluding in a cake cutting ceremony marking the occasion.

The collaboration between TDAP and the Christian Business Fellowship Pakistan reflects a broader effort to extend digital economy training to entrepreneurs from diverse community backgrounds across Lahore, an approach that aligns with TDAP’s stated goal of facilitating and encouraging Pakistan’s wider business community to participate more actively in global trade opportunities. By bringing e-commerce specific training directly to a community focused organization, the programme signals an effort to make digital skills development more accessible at the grassroots level, extending beyond the more commonly targeted urban tech and startup ecosystem that typically receives the bulk of Pakistan’s digital economy focused training initiatives.
