Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited’s Tameer Trust has partnered with The Dawood Foundation to support access to STEM education and experiential learning for children from underserved communities through TDF’s MagnifiScience Centre. Under the partnership, students from underserved communities will be sponsored to visit and experience the centre, giving them an opportunity to engage with science through interactive activities and hands-on learning.
The MagnifiScience Centre, located in Karachi’s City Railway Colony, opened to the public in September 2021 and has since welcomed more than 650,000 visitors, featuring over 400 interactive exhibits spanning fields including mathematics, biology, physics and chemistry. Following its vision that science is for everyone, the centre promotes scientific literacy through experiential, informal learning channels designed to spark curiosity and encourage critical thinking, with a particular focus on removing barriers to STEM education for marginalized communities.
Commenting on the partnership, Wafi Energy Pakistan CEO Zubair Shaikh said the future of Pakistan depends on how young people are learning and developing today, adding that the company wants to help more children experience STEM learning in a way that is engaging and enjoyable. TDF Trustee Shafiq Ahmed said access to learning can open new possibilities for young people, while TDF CEO Favad Soomro said the foundation aims to make science engaging and accessible to children from all backgrounds through initiatives of this kind.
The agreement was signed by Zubair Shaikh and Favad Soomro, with the signing attended by senior representatives from both organizations, including Imran Qureshi, Director of Corporate and Government Relations at Wafi Energy Pakistan, and Christoph S. Sprung, Chief Governance Officer at The Dawood Foundation. The partnership marks a continuation of the two organizations’ existing association, reflecting their shared commitment to expanding access to learning opportunities and supporting youth development in Pakistan.
