The Supreme Court of Pakistan has officially launched its E-Office system, marking a significant step toward judicial digitalization. The initiative was highlighted at a formal ceremony that also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP) and the National Information Technology Board (NITB). The agreement creates a framework for integrating advanced digital tools into the country’s judicial system, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and streamlined case management.
Under the MoU, LJCP and NITB will jointly develop an Analytical Dashboard for the Judiciary. This digital platform will bring together judicial data from multiple institutions and align it with monitoring parameters defined by the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (NJPMC). The dashboard is expected to provide real-time information on case disposal, backlog levels, and institutional performance. By consolidating data in a single interface, the judiciary will gain the ability to assess trends, evaluate outcomes, and strengthen reforms based on evidence-driven insights.
Following the signing of the agreement, the Supreme Court formally launched the E-Office system. The new system will automate the flow of files and reduce reliance on paper-based processes, introducing a digital workflow to internal operations. Work is also underway to develop a specialized case management system for judges of the Supreme Court, which will integrate modern features consistent with international standards in judicial governance. These digital tools are intended to simplify operations, improve accountability, and ensure that judges and court staff can focus on decision-making rather than administrative delays.
The launch event was attended by prominent figures from the judiciary and the federal government. Chief Justice of Pakistan, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Yahya Afridi, presided over the ceremony. Also present were Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja; Chairman of the National Judicial Automation Committee, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar; and Supreme Court Judges Hon’ble Mr. Justice Shahid Waheed and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb. Federal Secretary for IT and Telecommunication, Mr. Zarrar Hasham Khan, was in attendance, while Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi joined virtually from Lahore. Their participation reflected strong institutional support for the initiative, bringing together the judiciary and the IT sector to advance shared goals of efficiency and modernization.
With the launch of the E-Office system and the development of the Analytical Dashboard, Pakistan’s judiciary is moving toward a more digital future. These reforms underscore the importance of leveraging technology to improve judicial operations, reduce inefficiencies, and provide a foundation for a transparent and accessible justice system that meets the needs of citizens and institutions alike.
