Pakistan’s national space agency SUPARCO will present its satellite-enabled Sky Clinic telemedicine system at the ITCN Asia 2025 exhibition being held in Karachi from September 23 to 25. The project has been developed to address healthcare accessibility gaps in underserved and remote regions of the country, offering a portable and secure solution powered by advanced space technology. SUPARCO has positioned the Sky Clinic as a key demonstration of how its satellite infrastructure can be leveraged for social welfare, extending medical services far beyond the reach of conventional healthcare facilities.

The Sky Clinic telemedicine terminal integrates diagnostic instruments, vital signs monitoring equipment, and real-time consultation features to allow patients in geographically isolated areas to communicate directly with medical professionals. The system operates on PakSat MM1, Pakistan’s multi-mission communication satellite launched in May 2024 with Chinese cooperation and fully operational since October the same year. This satellite ensures reliable high-speed connectivity even in regions where conventional networks face limitations, enabling consistent and secure data transmission critical for remote medical services.

Officials explained that the Sky Clinic is designed for rapid deployment, nationwide coverage, and ease of use. Its portability and seamless integration with electronic health records make it a practical tool for extending healthcare services to communities lacking traditional infrastructure. By relying on PakSat MM1, the platform guarantees uninterrupted service delivery and secure patient data management. SUPARCO’s representatives at ITCN Asia 2025 are expected to engage with visitors and technology professionals to showcase the system’s features and its potential role in reshaping Pakistan’s healthcare landscape.

Beyond its telemedicine initiative, SUPARCO has been using its satellite capabilities for disaster management, flood monitoring, crop yield assessment, urban development planning, and climate research. These activities reflect how satellite data is increasingly supporting government and private-sector initiatives. By unveiling the Sky Clinic at a major technology exhibition, SUPARCO aims to highlight how space-based solutions can contribute to national development priorities, giving policymakers, technologists, and healthcare professionals an opportunity to evaluate and collaborate on the deployment of innovative services designed to benefit marginalized communities.
