Under the new system, every vehicle owner will receive verifiable digital documents that will be accessible online, fully replacing the manual paperwork that has traditionally underpinned vehicle certification and route permitting across Sindh’s transport sector. The digital system has been designed specifically to address the persistent problems of document tampering and fraud that have long been associated with manual certification processes, while also removing the need for vehicle owners and transporters to make repeated visits to government offices to obtain or renew their documentation. Field offices across the province have been given clear operational targets to ensure the transition is completed within the available timeframe, with each office directed to process a minimum of 1,000 entries per day in order to meet the June 30 registration deadline. All relevant departments within the Sindh transport authority have received strict instructions from the minister to ensure full compliance before the announced cutoff date.
The consequences of missing the deadline are significant. After June 30, all manually issued route permits and fitness certificates will be declared invalid, and only digitally issued documents will be recognized and accepted by provincial transport authorities. Transporters have been urged to initiate their digital registration without delay and to complete all required steps well ahead of the deadline to avoid disruptions to their operations. The initiative forms part of a broader pattern of provincial-level digitisation efforts being undertaken across Pakistan, where government departments are increasingly moving away from paper-based systems toward digital platforms that offer greater transparency, reduced opportunities for corruption, and more efficient service delivery for citizens and businesses operating within the transport sector.
