Saudi Arabia has been ranked first globally in the 2026 ICT Development Index, marking a major milestone in the Kingdom’s digital transformation journey under Vision 2030. The achievement reflects years of sustained investment in advanced telecommunications infrastructure, nationwide fiber broadband, extensive 5G deployment, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and digital government services. The ranking further reinforces Saudi Arabia’s position as one of the world’s fastest-growing digital economies and highlights the success of coordinated public and private sector efforts to modernize the country’s technology landscape.

The ICT Development Index measures countries based on key indicators such as internet access, digital infrastructure, connectivity and technology adoption. Saudi Arabia’s top position is the result of significant investments in modern telecommunications networks, spectrum modernization, digital public services and nationwide broadband expansion. In recent years, the Kingdom has also accelerated the development of hyperscale cloud infrastructure, AI computing capabilities and enterprise digital platforms, creating an ecosystem that supports businesses, government institutions and consumers alike.

Digital infrastructure has become a central pillar of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, enabling economic diversification beyond the oil sector. High-speed connectivity is supporting growth across industries including fintech, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, education and smart city development while encouraging wider adoption of artificial intelligence, cloud technologies and digital services. The country’s advanced digital ecosystem has also strengthened its appeal as a regional destination for global technology companies seeking investment and operational opportunities in the Middle East.

Saudi Arabia’s global leadership in the ICT Development Index sets a new benchmark for digital competitiveness across the region. The achievement demonstrates how long-term investment, supportive regulation and strong collaboration between government and industry can accelerate digital transformation and economic growth. As countries continue to prioritize advanced connectivity, cloud infrastructure, AI and digital skills, Saudi Arabia’s progress is expected to serve as a model for other nations seeking to strengthen their digital economies and compete on the global technology stage.
