Safr Starts Operations in Lahore, Multan; Female-Safety Ride-Hailing Service

Safr, the female-friendly ride-hailing startup has finally launched its operations in the Pakistani market starting with Lahore and Multan. After announcing its intention to enter the Pakistani market in last August, the company has finally started its operations in two major cities including Lahore and Multan .The US-based ride-hailing company aims to create a safe riding experience for the women and thus the cars will be driven by women drivers as well.

Safr has opened its franchises in the two cities where women will be able to travel at odd hours without worrying about any kind of harassment and also the women drivers will not have to fret about the kind of passengers they will encounter.

Ride-hailing companies have changed the transport game in the country where people around the country rely on Uber and Careem to help them go from one part of the city to the other.

Though companies are working towards helping women make an earning through ride-sharing, like Careem’s initiative to help empower women bike riders and car drivers, Safr will take away the discomfort of traveling with a man who’s a complete stranger. Safr mobile app gives the riders and drivers a choice about which gender they feel most comfortable riding with.

Ramla Hassan, CEO Safr Pakistan talking about the launch of their services in Pakistan said;

“It is truly amazing to see incredible Pakistani women ride and drive fearlessly with Safr during odd hours of the day. Thousands of people are downloading our Android and iOS apps and we are processing our driver applications as expeditiously as we can to meet the demand”

Syed Gilani, Safr Global CEO said,

“Pakistan is only a start, we plan on expanding in the region with the help of our local partners.”
