PTCL and Ufone were able to swiftly repair their networks that had been seriously disrupted by torrential rains and flooding in several regions of Balochistan and Sindh by promptly mobilising their local resources.

The region’s severely damaged roads and bridges brought on by the heavy rains made speedy network repair more challenging, but the field staff from PTCL and Ufone were nevertheless able to maintain their pledge to keep their customers connected at all times.

One of the heaviest monsoons in recent memory struck Sindh, especially Karachi and the coastal area of Balochistan, wreaking havoc on the nation’s road and bridge network as well as creating extensive commercial power outages and urban flooding. Additionally, numerous sections of the Optical Fiber network that PTCL had erected beside highways and bridges were carried away.

In the Northern and Central Zones of the nation, network problems happened as a result of overloaded exchanges and nodes. The PTCL OFC network, electrical transmission lines, and road network sustained substantial damage in the Baluchistan province of Makran as a result of the catastrophe.

The total situation made it very difficult for the PTCL and Ufone field workers to meet their promise to keep their consumers connected without interruption.

In order to maintain the greatest level of business continuity, PTCL, as the national carrier, made an attempt to react swiftly by dispatching technicians to the afflicted region to reconnect the optical fibre line using a workaround.

Despite the severe weather, difficult terrain, and size of the task, the teams operated a 24/7 operation with a high level of dedication.

Until the issue was remedied, the company deployed portable generators to manage the network disruption in the Southern, Northern, and Central regions brought on by a commercial power loss.

To fully restore communication, days-long laborious fieldwork were required in the hardest-hit Turbat, Ormara, Pasni, and Gawadar regions of Balochistan’s Makran Division as well as the affected regions of Sindh.

PTCL Group’s prompt and successful reaction to the big assignment, despite several challenges, is evidence of its efficacy, agility, and determination to constantly maintain seamless connectivity.

The amazing commitment and tenacity of the local personnel, whose efforts made it possible to carry out rescue and relief activities without incident and to continue everyday life and business operations, are the reason the network was successfully restored in the middle of such a devastating tragedy.
