In an effort to provide relief to inflation-stricken residents, the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has approved the “Roshan Gharana” program. This initiative aims to distribute solar panels to millions of citizens consuming between 50 and 500 units of electricity.

The program, announced during a provincial cabinet meeting, prioritizes affordability. The government will shoulder 90% of the solar panel cost, with residents covering the remaining 10% in easy installments over five years. This not only reduces upfront costs but also promotes sustainable energy solutions.

“Roshan Gharana” addresses the dual challenges of rising electricity costs and energy scarcity. The program prioritizes the most underprivileged households, ensuring equitable distribution during the initial phase. The solar panel systems will be customized to meet each user’s specific electricity needs, balancing government-supplied and solar-generated power.

Chief Minister Nawaz emphasized the program’s significance during the meeting. “We will not leave our people alone during these difficult times,” she declared. “This initiative aims to shield residents from the consequences of past neglect, and within five years, they will no longer face the current electricity issues.”

The “Roshan Gharana” program presents a potential turning point for Punjab’s energy landscape, offering both economic and environmental benefits to millions of residents.
