Punjab Police has announced plans to acquire advanced drones equipped with surveillance cameras and the capability to carry and drop mortar shells. These drones will be used to target criminals hiding in remote regions of the province.

Police officials stated that the drones can transport 60 mm mortar shells over several kilometers, providing both monitoring and strike capabilities. This technology is expected to significantly enhance operations in areas where criminals are known to seek refuge.

The project will initially involve the purchase of 25 drones, with a budget of Rs. 35 million allocated. A summary for approval has been submitted to the Federal Ministry of Interior, and the tendering process will commence once the No Objection Certificate (NOC) is granted.

The deployment of drones is seen as a strategic move to strengthen law enforcement efforts in areas where traditional police operations face challenges. This technology is expected to provide police with a significant advantage in combating crime and ensuring public safety.
