The Punjab government has announced that 252 essential government services spanning 18 departments have been successfully integrated into the e-Biz online portal, in a significant step toward eliminating the need for citizens to visit government offices in person for routine administrative tasks. The development was confirmed during a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, during which officials reported that the portal had already processed 44,519 applications since its rollout, with 40,854 of those approvals completed successfully through the automated digital system.

The provincial government has set an ambitious target of expanding the number of available services on the platform to 300 by April 15, signalling an intent to accelerate the pace of digitisation across its administrative departments. Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman directed officials to move decisively toward phasing out manual processing entirely, instructing that all remaining government services be brought onto the digital platform so that citizens are no longer required to travel to offices or navigate bureaucratic in-person procedures. He emphasised that modern technology represents the most reliable pathway to improved governance, and that replacing traditional systems with digital alternatives is essential to ensuring transparency across provincial administration.

Punjab Information Technology Board Chairman briefed the meeting on a series of new measures accompanying the portal expansion, including the introduction of Quick Response codes on all No-Objection Certificates and permits, which will allow for instant digital verification of documents. The Maryam Ki Dastak programme has also been formally linked with the e-Biz portal, centralising citizen facilitation under a unified digital framework. The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary and other senior officials, with divisional and deputy commissioners across the province joining via video link, reflecting the scale of the coordination effort underway as Punjab pushes to fully digitise its public service delivery infrastructure.
