PTCL has showcased the success of its BaIkhtiyar program, which aims to empower women entrepreneurs in underserved areas of Pakistan.

At GITEX Technology Week, PTCL President and Group CEO Hatem Bamatraf highlighted the program’s achievements and emphasized its potential for further expansion. The BaIkhtiyar program, launched in collaboration with the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, Daraz, and U Microfinance Bank, provides women with technology tools, digital training, and support to establish their own businesses.

The first batch of over 100 women from Haripur has successfully completed the program and is now actively participating in the economy. Participants receive connectivity solutions, SIM cards, mobile phones, and training on e-commerce to establish their online businesses.

Bamatraf expressed PTCL’s commitment to expanding the program to other regions in Pakistan while maintaining its focus on quality training through manageable batch sizes. He also called for increased private sector involvement in supporting similar initiatives to enable women’s economic empowerment.

The BaIkhtiyar program aligns with PTCL’s dedication to social responsibility and digital inclusion, addressing gender disparities and bridging the technological gap in Pakistan.
