Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is organizing a seminar on third generation (3G) mobile phone technology on June 10.

Minister In-charge for IT Sardar Mohammad Latif Khan Khosa will be the chief guest, while IT Secretary Naguib Ullah Malik will be the guest of honour. PTA Chairman Dr Mohammed Yaseen will chair the panel discussion.

The seminar will highlight various aspects of 3G mobile broadband services and 3G spectrum auctions in Pakistan, the statement said. Local and international experts will also deliver presentations on 3G mobile broadband services during the seminar. The objective of the event is to deliberate upon the regulatory, policy and technical challenges in connecting Pakistan through 3G mobile broadband and to get recommendations from the stakeholders.

A number of countries such as South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, France, Belgium, Japan, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Spain and Denmark have successfully introduced 3G services for their consumers and India has recently auctioned 3G spectrum
