Pakistan Software Export Board has launched a Soft Skills Training Programme for companies registered with the board under its Tech Destination Pakistan initiative, targeting the professional development of Pakistan’s information and communications technology workforce by equipping IT professionals with the interpersonal and workplace skills needed to perform and compete effectively in global markets. The programme is being positioned as a strategic initiative to address a gap that industry stakeholders have consistently identified as a limiting factor in Pakistan’s technology export growth: the ability of technically skilled professionals to communicate clearly, manage client relationships, and operate with the confidence and presence required to succeed in international business environments.

The training is structured across five comprehensive modules of ten hours each, covering Self-Grooming, Executive Presence and Professional Ethics; Communication and Business Writing; Leadership, Team Building and Emotional Intelligence; Problem Solving, Critical Thinking and Key Account Management; and Client Negotiation, Presentation and Career Readiness. The breadth of the curriculum reflects a recognition that soft skills operate as an interconnected set of capabilities rather than isolated competencies, and that meaningful improvement in a professional’s global market effectiveness requires development across all five areas rather than a single workshop on communication or presentation. Improving these capabilities across Pakistan’s technology workforce is expected to lead to stronger global client relationships, higher service quality, improved productivity, and ultimately greater information technology export revenues and remittances.

Eligibility for participating companies requires active PSEB registration and a minimum annual information technology and IT-enabled services export record of United States Dollars 20,000 for the last two consecutive years, setting a baseline that ensures the programme reaches companies already engaged in international business rather than those yet to establish an export track record. For individual trainees, the criteria include a four-year bachelor’s degree, a minimum of two years of industry experience, and a nomination from the chief executive officer of a PSEB-registered company, with all nominations subject to review and approval by Pakistan Software Export Board. Companies fulfilling the eligibility criteria can log in to the Soft Skills Portal at www.softskills.techdestination.com to submit their nominations.

The programme arrives at a moment when Pakistan’s technology export ambitions are being tested by the need to scale both the volume and the quality of its international client engagements. Technical capability has been the foundation of Pakistan’s information technology export growth, but industry leaders have increasingly noted that the next phase of growth requires a workforce that can also lead client conversations, manage account relationships proactively, and present Pakistan’s technology sector with the professionalism and confidence that global buyers expect from their preferred outsourcing partners. For queries, interested companies can reach the programme team at pseb.info@tlc.com.pk or contact Kashif Khan and Sara Siraj directly through the numbers listed on the official programme communication.
