The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has entered into a strategic partnership with the UK- Pakistan Trade & Investment Board (UKPTIB) in a move aimed at accelerating innovation and boosting economic growth within Pakistan’s technology sector. This collaboration, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signals a concerted effort to promote youth-centric ICT initiatives, enhance IT projects, and position Pakistan as a leading hub for technological development.
The MoU was signed in Lahore by Sajid Latif, PITB Director General (DG) of e-Governance, and Rizwan Sulehria, Chairman of UKPTIB. Ahmad Islam Syan, PITB Director of the Skills Development Wing, was also present at the signing ceremony. This agreement sets the stage for a dynamic partnership that seeks to create new opportunities for Pakistan’s youth, enabling them to engage in the ICT sector and contribute to the country’s technological evolution.
The primary focus of the partnership is to strengthen business activities and attract foreign investment to Pakistan’s growing tech industry. Furthermore, the collaboration aims to forge stronger economic and technological ties between Pakistan and the UK, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, skills, and resources that will drive technological innovation.
PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf emphasized the significance of the MoU, stating, “This collaboration is designed to create avenues for young talent to thrive in the ICT space while elevating Pakistan’s potential as a global technology hub. The partnership will not only enhance the local tech ecosystem but also attract foreign investment, contributing to sustainable growth in the sector.”
By focusing on youth-oriented ICT interventions, the partnership aims to nurture a new generation of tech innovators in Pakistan, equipping them with the skills needed to compete on the global stage. The initiative also seeks to address key challenges in the tech industry by providing support for ICT projects that can drive both social and economic development.
Through this collaboration, PITB and UKPTIB hope to facilitate the growth of a robust digital economy in Pakistan, with youth at the forefront of this transformation. The agreement marks a milestone in the ongoing efforts to foster innovation and position Pakistan as a key player in the global tech landscape.
