PIA, Pakistan’s national airline, and HBL, the country’s largest bank, have agreed to provide HBL customers an exclusive discount on all international and domestic travel tickets.

HBL and PIA have a long-standing partnership that has resulted in a number of successful transactions. HBL is PIA’s major banking partner and chosen service provider for both domestic and international banking needs. The National Carrier and HBL have partnered on a variety of products, including nationwide collections, payments and payroll administration, point of sale (POS) systems, and trade finance.

Air Marshal Arshad Malik, PIA’s Chief Executive Officer, and Muhammad Aurangzeb, HBL’s President and CEO, signed the deal. Sultan Ali Allana, Chairman of HBL, and senior managers from both firms were in attendance at the ceremony.

HBL’s recent participation in the syndicated USD denominated long-term financing facility and PIA’s current SUKUK offering are examples of how the two businesses have collaborated on various offshore and local financing solutions.

HBL Debit and Credit Cardholders will be able to take advantage of exceptional discounts on local and international travel with PIA as a result of this partnership. The national flag carrier has an aim to encourage tourism in Pakistan, particularly the country’s stunning natural settings. HBL’s position as the market leader in Debit and Credit Cards, with the largest number of cardholders, will aid in realising this ambition.

Transactions can be made both at the PIA booking offices (domestic and international) as well as through its corporate website, making the process convenient and seamless for the customers.

Air Marshal Arshad Malik congratulated both teams for creating a new dimension in air travel in the country. Speaking on the occasion, he said,

“PIA is following a comprehensive restructuring plan to turn around the stature of the national flag carrier. We are en route to resurgence despite the recent challenges, and this is only possible with an enhanced focus on partnerships and alliances with organizations like HBL.”

He said that PIA and HBL are long-term partners and natural allies, and it is about time we join hands to promote tourism across the country. He termed Sultan Ali Allana, Chairman, HBL as a great friend of PIA and a guiding beacon for the corporate sectors of Pakistan.

Muhammad Aurangzeb, President & CEO, HBL, commenting on the occasion said

“We are delighted to have entered into this strategic partnership with PIA. HBL has a long-standing relationship with PIA. This alliance will make travel more rewarding for our customers and it is another step towards HBL’s commitment to supporting the national agenda to promote travel and tourism across Pakistan.”
