Raast Payments Pakistan Chief Executive Officer Ahson Saeed met Pakistan Digital Authority Chairperson Dr. Sohail Munir at the authority’s headquarters, with both organisations agreeing to explore deeper institutional collaboration as two of the central pillars underpinning Pakistan’s digital public infrastructure.
During the meeting, Dr. Munir walked Saeed through the Pakistan Digital Authority’s mandate and ongoing initiatives, stressing that alignment between the two organisations is of considerable importance to the broader trajectory of Pakistan’s digital transformation efforts. The discussion proceeded from the premise that interoperability across digital public infrastructure cannot be achieved through technical system integration alone, and instead requires institutional alignment at every level between the bodies responsible for the country’s digital backbone.
Four specific areas of collaboration emerged from the discussion. The first is the establishment of a Council of Digital Public Infrastructure Operators, bringing together the National Database and Registration Authority, Raast, and the Pakistan Digital Authority under a single coordinating body designed to strengthen interoperability across Pakistan’s digital ecosystem. The second is the joint promotion of the Pakistan Stack as a national digital enabling framework, positioning it as shared infrastructure that other institutions and services can build upon rather than a fragmented set of standalone systems. The third is the formalisation of cooperation between the Pakistan Digital Authority and Raast through a Memorandum of Understanding, which would convert the current exploratory conversation into a structured, accountable partnership. The fourth involves the Pakistan Digital Authority sharing its Artificial Intelligence-based Smart Human Resources Solution with Raast, extending the efficiency gains of that internally developed tool to another major digital infrastructure operator.
Both organisations affirmed their commitment to advancing digital public infrastructure for the benefit of Pakistani citizens, businesses, and government institutions. With a formal Memorandum of Understanding expected to follow, the collaboration is positioned to move from stated intent toward concrete implementation, with the Pakistan Digital Authority and Raast aiming to jointly strengthen the country’s digital backbone and support a broader evolution in how government services are delivered as Pakistan’s digital economy continues to expand.
