Pakistanis across several regions woke up to patchy internet access , affecting users of major internet service providers (ISPs). While internet connectivity has partially returned in most areas, the cause of the disruption remains a mystery.

PTA offered the possibility of damaged submarine cables as a potential explanation, but this hasn’t been confirmed. When contacted, telecom companies gave various reasons, ranging from internal technical problems to nationwide degradation.

Independent reports suggest browsing speeds remain sluggish, hinting at an incomplete restoration. PTCL, a major ISP, insists they haven’t experienced any service disruptions and maintain full functionality. In contrast, a spokesperson from the PTA denies any internet outages and claims no issues on their end.

Earlier reports from Nayatel’s helpline indicated a nationwide internet outage. The responsibility for restoring internet services rests solely with the PTA and telecom operators.

This incident underscores the need for improved communication during internet disruptions in Pakistan. Until the source of the issue is officially identified and addressed, users might continue to face internet connectivity problems.
