Pakistan Strengthens Telecom Collaboration With e& Life And PTCL For Digital Growth

Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja held a meeting with Khalifa AlShamsi, CEO of e& life, and Hatem Bamatraf, President and Group CEO of PTCL, to discuss opportunities for collaboration in advancing Pakistan’s telecom sector. The discussion centered on enhancing digital infrastructure, driving telecom innovation, and building the foundation for next-generation connectivity in alignment with Pakistan’s digital economy vision. The engagement took place under the Tech Destination Pakistan initiative, reaffirming the government’s focus on promoting cross-border collaboration to accelerate the country’s digital transformation.

During the meeting, Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to expanding digital access and strengthening its telecommunications framework to support inclusive economic development. She highlighted the importance of partnerships with leading global and regional technology players in achieving the goals of the Digital Pakistan initiative. The Minister also outlined the government’s ongoing efforts to upgrade digital networks, improve service quality, and enable the transition towards high-speed broadband and emerging technologies that will enhance digital inclusion and economic competitiveness.

Khalifa AlShamsi shared insights from e& life’s experience in building innovative digital ecosystems and expressed a strong interest in exploring collaborative opportunities with Pakistan. He emphasized that partnerships between technology and telecom companies can help create integrated digital solutions and improve user experiences in areas such as connectivity, smart services, and digital payments. Hatem Bamatraf added that PTCL, being at the forefront of Pakistan’s telecom infrastructure, remains committed to supporting the government’s vision by investing in modern technologies and strengthening the country’s digital backbone. Both leaders acknowledged the potential of leveraging existing infrastructure and expertise to jointly develop scalable solutions that drive innovation and efficiency within the telecom sector.

The discussion also explored areas of mutual interest, including fiber network expansion, 5G readiness, and digital ecosystem development. All participants recognized that such collaborations play an essential role in ensuring sustainable technological growth and regional cooperation in the ICT domain. The meeting underscored Pakistan’s growing focus on fostering a strong digital infrastructure capable of supporting future connectivity demands and positioning the country as a competitive player in the global digital economy. Through initiatives like Tech Destination Pakistan, the government continues to engage with international partners to enable a robust, secure, and future-ready digital environment that aligns with the evolving needs of businesses and citizens alike.
