Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to shaping the future of the global digital economy by actively participating in the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) Ministerial Gathering. Minister for IT & Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, represented Pakistan at the high-profile event, engaging with international leaders to drive digital cooperation, innovation, and inclusive technological advancement.

The DCO, an international organization focused on accelerating the digital economy through cross-border collaboration, serves as a vital platform for countries to exchange ideas, policies, and strategies. By participating in this ministerial gathering, Pakistan has taken another significant step toward strengthening its role in the global digital ecosystem. Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja highlighted Pakistan’s digital transformation vision, emphasizing the government’s proactive approach to bridging the digital divide, fostering entrepreneurship, and ensuring technology-driven economic growth. During the discussions, Minister Khawaja outlined key initiatives Pakistan has undertaken to integrate digital solutions across various sectors. These include the expansion of broadband connectivity, advancements in digital payments, and the adoption of AI and blockchain technologies. She also shed light on Pakistan’s recent efforts to enhance IT exports, support startups, and create a favorable regulatory environment for tech enterprises.

The ministerial gathering provided a platform for Pakistan to strengthen partnerships with member states, multinational corporations, and international organizations. Pakistan’s emphasis on global cooperation aligns with its broader ambition to position itself as a hub for digital innovation in South Asia. Minister Khawaja reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to leveraging technology for social and economic progress while ensuring that digital transformation benefits all segments of society. A significant focus of the gathering was on digital inclusion, ensuring that underprivileged communities and small businesses can benefit from technological advancements. Minister Khawaja underscored the government’s efforts to enhance digital literacy, promote women’s participation in the tech sector, and introduce policies that encourage sustainable digital development.

Pakistan’s participation in the DCO Ministerial Gathering is expected to yield long-term benefits, particularly in areas of knowledge exchange, investment opportunities, and technology-driven growth. With the country’s IT sector experiencing rapid expansion, collaborations formed at such international platforms will further accelerate digital progress. By taking an active role in shaping digital policies and fostering international partnerships, Pakistan is steadily advancing toward becoming a digitally empowered nation. As global economies continue to evolve with the rapid adoption of emerging technologies, Pakistan’s engagement in international digital cooperation will be instrumental in driving innovation, economic expansion, and inclusive technological development.
