OnePlus is preparing to launch its next flagship device, the OnePlus 16, and recent leaks suggest it could deliver far more power than initially expected. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the upcoming smartphone may feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, a top-of-the-line 2nm processor with support for the latest LPDDR6 memory. This is a notable step up from earlier rumors that indicated the device would use the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip. The OnePlus 16 is also rumored to bring impressive camera capabilities, including a 200MP periscope telephoto lens. This could significantly improve zoom performance, putting the device in competition with high-end smartphones like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Oppo Find X9 Pro, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. Photography enthusiasts may find this upgrade particularly appealing.

Battery capacity is expected to be another standout feature. The device could house a massive 9000mAh battery, supporting 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, making it one of the most endurance-friendly smartphones on the market. Combined with a 240Hz OLED display, the OnePlus 16 promises a smooth, responsive experience for gaming, streaming, and general usage. While these upgrades make the OnePlus 16 highly attractive, they may also come with a price. Leaks indicate a potential 25% increase over the OnePlus 15, which could see the device priced around £1,000 in the UK. For those willing to invest in a high-performance flagship, the OnePlus 16 could offer compelling value in terms of speed, camera quality, battery life, and display performance.

In addition to hardware enhancements, OnePlus is reportedly focusing on software optimization to ensure the device is smooth and responsive. With Qualcomm’s powerful new chipset and OnePlus’ software tweaks, users can expect faster app launches, smoother multitasking, and an overall improved Android experience. If these leaks hold true, the OnePlus 16 could become a major contender in the high-end Android segment, challenging Samsung’s Galaxy S26 range and other flagship devices. Its combination of top-tier performance, advanced photography, massive battery, and high-refresh-rate display positions it as one of the most exciting smartphones of 2026.

As OnePlus prepares to make the official announcement, the tech community will be closely watching to see how these specifications translate into real-world performance. Enthusiasts, gamers, and photography fans alike will be keen to experience what promises to be a powerful and feature-packed device.
