The National Information Technology Board has launched the PEMRA Complaint System mobile application, making it possible for citizens across Pakistan to report issues related to live media content directly from their smartphones with greater speed, simplicity, and confidence than was previously available through conventional complaint channels. The application is now available for download on both Android and iOS platforms, bringing a formal regulatory touchpoint into the hands of ordinary viewers who previously had limited accessible options for flagging media content concerns in real time.

The application is designed around three core principles: ease of use, accountability, and speed of response. Citizens can submit complaints, select the relevant complaint type and category, and provide the necessary details through a streamlined interface that minimises the steps required to lodge a formal grievance. The platform promises timely responses with real action taken on submissions, addressing a longstanding concern among media consumers that complaints to regulatory bodies disappeared into bureaucratic processes with little visible follow-through. By digitising the complaint pathway and placing it within a mobile application, NITB has created a direct channel between citizens and decision-makers within the media regulatory framework, reducing the layers of administration that previously stood between a viewer’s concern and an institutional response.

The PEMRA Complaint System app is part of the National Information Technology Board’s broader mandate under the Digital Economy Enhancement Project and the Tech Destination Pakistan vision to bring government services and regulatory mechanisms onto accessible digital platforms that function reliably for users across the country. The initiative reflects an understanding that regulatory accountability in the media sector depends not only on the authority’s internal processes but also on how easily citizens can engage with those processes when they encounter content that they believe violates broadcast standards. Citizens wishing to download the application can access the Android version at https://lnkd.in/gQC2mjX5 and the iOS version at https://lnkd.in/dqEsJJv3.
