The National Information Technology Board (NITB) and The Pakistan Society of Interventional Cardiology (PSIC) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at combating cardiovascular diseases through digital innovation and technical support.

Under the MoU, NITB will provide digital infrastructure and technical assistance to PSIC for data collection and research to prevent and treat heart diseases, including heart attacks. The signing ceremony was graced by Caretaker Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication, Dr. Umar Saif, who emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to enhance healthcare services.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Umar Saif stressed the need to embrace digital transformation in healthcare and education sectors, highlighting the role of technology in saving lives. He affirmed the Ministry of IT’s commitment to supporting initiatives that improve patient care and prevent diseases.

The MoU aims to explore collaboration opportunities to enhance the national heart attack treatment initiative. Key initiatives outlined in the agreement include developing databases and apps for patient evaluation, establishing national care protocols, and implementing ambulance and patient awareness programs.

CEO NITB, Dr. Babar Majid Bhatti, and President PSIC, Dr. Zubair Akram, briefed the minister on the MoU’s implications, emphasizing its potential to develop national networks and databases for timely heart attack treatment. They also highlighted the agreement’s significance in preventing primary and secondary heart attacks through public awareness campaigns on social media platforms.
