The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to introduce a structured internship programme for Bachelor of Studies students, aiming to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical experience while also providing financial assistance. The initiative was discussed during a briefing to Provincial Minister for Education Meena Khan Afridi in relation to the proposed Ehsaas Internship Program.
According to the proposed framework, the internship programme will span a duration of two to six months, during which selected students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 25,000. The initiative is designed to support students financially while equipping them with hands on exposure in relevant professional environments. Officials indicated that the programme is intended to enhance employability among graduates by enabling them to gain real world experience alongside their academic qualifications. By integrating practical training into the educational journey, the provincial government aims to better prepare students for the evolving demands of the job market.
Eligibility criteria for the programme has been set at a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, with students enrolled in universities and degree colleges across the province eligible to apply. The initiative is expected to cover a broad range of academic disciplines, ensuring inclusivity for students from diverse educational backgrounds. Authorities believe that setting a merit based threshold will help maintain quality participation while encouraging academic performance among students seeking to benefit from the opportunity.
As part of the implementation strategy, coordination offices will be established within universities and colleges to facilitate the programme and oversee its execution. These offices will act as liaison points between students, educational institutions, and relevant departments to ensure smooth operations. The move reflects a broader push by the provincial government to strengthen the education sector through targeted initiatives that combine academic development with skill building, positioning students to transition more effectively into professional careers.
