NICAT and CESVI have formalized a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating climate tech innovation and strengthening disaster resilience efforts across Pakistan. The collaboration was sealed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on 18 February 2026 in Islamabad, bringing together the National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies and CESVI to deploy advanced technology solutions in response to the country’s increasing climate related challenges.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Farhan Ahmed Khan, Country Director of CESVI, and Mr. Shayan Yar, Project Director of National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies. The partnership is designed to combine CESVI’s extensive on ground experience in climate response and humanitarian initiatives with NICAT’s high tech startup ecosystem. By linking operational field knowledge with emerging technologies, both organizations aim to accelerate the development, testing, and deployment of scalable climate tech solutions tailored to Pakistan’s environmental realities. The focus will remain on strengthening preparedness frameworks, improving disaster mitigation strategies, and building long term community resilience through data driven and technology backed systems.
Under the framework of the MoU, NICAT will act as a technology partner, providing CESVI access to its portfolio of startups operating in climate tech and deep tech domains. These startups are working on solutions including geostatistical and geospatial analytics, IoT based environmental and disaster monitoring systems, climate disaster simulation and risk modeling platforms, and advanced decision support technologies powered by real time data. CESVI will evaluate and integrate relevant innovations into its existing and upcoming climate initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and improve response capabilities. The collaboration is expected to bridge the gap between innovation labs and field implementation, ensuring that locally developed technologies can be deployed in vulnerable communities where climate risks are intensifying in frequency and severity.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Farhan Ahmed Khan highlighted CESVI’s mandate of protecting vulnerable populations and strengthening resilience against escalating climate risks. He noted that across Pakistan, the organization is working on sustainable and community centered approaches to reduce disaster vulnerability at its roots, and that integrating advanced technological capabilities will reinforce the impact of these initiatives. Mr. Shayan Yar emphasized NICAT’s role in enabling technology led impact, stating that innovation must address real world challenges and that providing CESVI access to climate tech startups aligns with NICAT’s mission of supporting solutions that contribute to environmental monitoring, disaster preparedness, and resilience planning. The MoU reflects a structured effort to align humanitarian climate action with advanced technological innovation, creating a collaborative platform that supports scalable and evidence based responses to Pakistan’s evolving climate landscape.
