The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has rolled out a new feature in its Pak-ID mobile application, making it possible for citizens to track the status of their identity card and other document applications directly from home. Officials confirmed that the new capability provides real-time updates with a simple, user-friendly interface, requiring only a few taps for applicants to check the progress of their requests. This development builds on NADRA’s efforts to expand its digital footprint and make essential services more accessible to the public.

According to details shared by NADRA, the service is not limited to one type of document. Citizens can now monitor the processing of a wide range of applications including CNICs, B-Forms, Family Registration Certificates, and additional official records. By offering visibility throughout the process, the app aims to reduce uncertainty, minimize delays, and increase transparency in service delivery. The authority also clarified that while most services are now fully digital, first-time applicants for an identity card will still be required to visit a NADRA office once in person for biometric verification.

Officials highlighted that this update is expected to significantly improve convenience, cutting down on the repeated visits that were previously necessary for applicants to check on their cases. Instead of making physical trips to NADRA centers, applicants can rely on their smartphones to obtain live updates and estimated completion timelines. For busy families and professionals, this is anticipated to reduce waiting times, ease congestion at service centers, and lower overall costs associated with travel and lost work hours.

NADRA further emphasized that the benefit extends beyond residents inside Pakistan. Overseas Pakistanis, who often face logistical and financial challenges in processing official documents, can also take advantage of the feature. The ability to track applications remotely offers an added layer of efficiency for expatriates, particularly those applying for CNICs or family registration documents from abroad. With Pakistan’s growing reliance on digital platforms for governance, the initiative represents a practical step in using technology to streamline administrative services and improve citizen engagement.

By expanding the functionality of its Pak-ID app, NADRA continues to align its services with modern digital standards, ensuring that both local and overseas Pakistanis have greater control over their applications. The addition of this feature reflects an ongoing shift towards convenience, accessibility, and efficiency in public sector digital services.
