Hamza Chishti, a technology professional born in Lahore, has risen to lead artificial intelligence and cloud computing initiatives at Microsoft, building a career that has taken him from Model Town and Johar Town in Lahore to one of the world’s largest technology companies. After completing his Computer Science degree at FAST University Lahore, Chishti began his professional career in investment banking, working in Dubai and London before a chance opportunity in 2017 redirected his path when Microsoft reached out to him through LinkedIn with an interview offer.

Chishti’s performance at Microsoft earned recognition relatively quickly. In 2021, he received the company’s Gold Club Award, presented to only the top 0.1 percent of performers across Microsoft worldwide, and was promoted to Director the same year. As artificial intelligence became increasingly central to Microsoft’s broader strategy, his responsibilities expanded to cover both AI and cloud computing solutions for major organizations globally, putting him in direct contact with chief executives and technology leaders at some of the world’s largest companies.

In his current role, Chishti’s team helps businesses integrate AI into their operations to reduce costs, improve productivity, and modernize their technology infrastructure through Microsoft’s AI powered products and services. He said Microsoft’s current leadership under Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella continues to value innovation and views Pakistan as a growing economy with significant potential. On compensation in the technology industry, Chishti noted that senior professionals in similar positions can earn between roughly $350,000 and $600,000 annually, depending on experience, job level, and company performance.

Beyond his corporate role, Chishti has said his primary focus now is helping young Pakistanis build similar careers in global technology, arguing that his own path from Lahore to a senior position at Microsoft demonstrates what is achievable for talented students with the right skills and determination. He regularly shares AI tools, career resources, and learning materials through his social media platforms, describing large language models in simple terms to help students understand how systems like ChatGPT are trained to interpret questions and generate responses. His message to Pakistani students centers on continuous learning and adaptability as pathways into international technology careers, reflecting a broader trend of Pakistani professionals in senior global tech roles using their platforms to mentor the next generation back home.
