Tech Valley Pakistan, in collaboration with Google, held the Digital Sahafat 3.0 Train the Trainer session, bringing together more than 20 Master Trainers from leading media organizations and academic institutions for two days of intensive, hands-on training. The session focused on how generative AI can support journalism, streamline newsroom workflows, and enhance multimedia storytelling.

Participants received interactive training guided by Younjun Choi from the Google News Initiative, covering a range of Google AI tools including Gemini for AI powered research and workflow optimization, NotebookLM for deep data synthesis and source analysis, Gemini Canvas for interactive visual prototyping, and Google Veo for next generation visual storytelling. The training format was designed to give participants hands-on familiarity with each tool rather than a purely theoretical overview of AI applications in newsrooms.

Participating organizations included Jang and Geo Media Group, SAMAA TV, Nukta Pakistan, the Centre of Excellence in Journalism at the Institute of Business Administration, and Beaconhouse National University, drawing together representatives from major broadcast, digital, and academic institutions across Pakistan’s media landscape. The session builds on earlier phases of the Digital Sahafat program, which has already trained 4,000 media professionals and students in advanced AI competencies, according to a case study Google previously highlighted on its News Initiative platform.

Tech Valley Pakistan indicated that applications for the next Digital Sahafat 3.0 cohort will open soon, suggesting the Train the Trainer session is intended to build out a broader network of trainers capable of extending the program’s reach across additional media organizations. The initiative continues Tech Valley’s pattern of pairing Google’s AI tools with structured training programs across Pakistan’s education and media sectors, reflecting sustained momentum behind AI literacy efforts as newsrooms increasingly look to incorporate generative AI into daily reporting and content production workflows.
