In a recent meeting chaired by LDA DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) revealed its contemplation of integrating drone technology for surveys and subsequent follow-ups in its controlled areas.

The meeting, attended by key officials including Additional Commissioner Abdul Salam Arif, Additional DG UP Khalid Goraya, Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali, Chief Town Planner I Sidra Tabassum, Director SDC Kaleem Yousaf, Director IT Abdul Basit, and other concerned officers, focused on enhancing the LDA building control mechanism.

During the deliberations, the proposal for utilizing drone technology was thoroughly reviewed, and an action plan was presented to modernize the town planning building control. A notable aspect discussed was the creation of an IT-based control room, aiming to elevate the efficiency of the LDA building control mechanism.

The proposed control room would incorporate a dashboard and digital record, streamlining building control processes. The dashboard would enable one-click access to map approvals, comprehensive construction records, and other pertinent details. This digital infrastructure is expected to enhance the overall monitoring and control of construction activities, utilizing GIS technology to curb illegal construction and commercialization in the city.

DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized the importance of establishing a timeline for the implementation of the action plan. He highlighted that the incorporation of GIS and technology in surveillance systems will significantly improve the efficacy of the LDA’s operations, reinforcing building control and regulatory efforts in the region.
