Karandaaz Pakistan has announced a call for applications for its AI in Digital Payments Challenge 2025, inviting innovators, fintechs, and financial institutions to present artificial intelligence (AI) driven solutions that can transform Pakistan’s digital payments ecosystem. The initiative aims to explore how AI technologies can be practically applied to improve efficiency, strengthen security, promote financial inclusion, and create seamless customer experiences in the financial services sector. Interested applicants can submit proposals until October 25, 2025, with queries directed to the official Karandaaz program office via email.

The challenge reflects the growing need for advanced solutions in Pakistan’s digital financial landscape, where secure and user-friendly payment systems have become critical to maintaining trust and expanding usage. With more individuals and businesses adopting digital payments, the demand for technologies that can handle increasing transaction volumes while safeguarding data integrity has accelerated. AI tools, ranging from fraud detection and risk analysis to customer service automation, are now seen as vital components in enabling financial institutions to respond effectively to these needs.

By launching this challenge, Karandaaz Pakistan is encouraging participants at different stages of product development, whether piloting an AI solution, scaling an existing platform, or testing a proof-of-concept. This inclusive approach ensures that both established players and emerging startups can contribute to shaping the next phase of digital payments in the country. In particular, the initiative highlights the role of AI in tackling key barriers such as transaction fraud, limited access in underserved regions, and high operational costs. Through innovative applications of AI, the challenge hopes to surface solutions that not only meet business requirements but also expand digital access for millions of unbanked and underbanked Pakistanis.

Global financial technology trends already demonstrate the transformative power of AI in areas like predictive analytics, automated dispute resolution, personalized financial services, and compliance monitoring. For Pakistan, where the digital economy continues to expand and mobile-based transactions are growing rapidly, the adoption of AI is expected to accelerate modernization efforts across the payments ecosystem. The Karandaaz challenge therefore provides a timely opportunity for local innovators to test their solutions against international standards and demonstrate readiness for scale.

Applicants have until October 25, 2025, to submit their ideas, with further details available on the official application link shared by Karandaaz Pakistan (Apply here). Queries and clarifications can also be addressed directly through the designated email channel programofficedfs@karandaaz.com.pk. With this initiative, Karandaaz aims to create a collaborative platform where the most promising AI-powered innovations can emerge, setting a direction for the evolution of digital payments in Pakistan.
