Japan has announced a digital logo design competition to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Pakistan in 2027. The Embassy of Japan in Pakistan said on Monday that citizens of both countries are invited to take part and create an original logo that reflects the friendship, partnership and close ties between the two nations. The winning design will be used as the official logo for the 75th anniversary and will appear in events and activities held throughout 2027 to celebrate the milestone. People of any age who live anywhere in the world can submit an original logo design, which means the competition is not limited to professional designers or to residents of the two countries involved.

The deadline for submissions is October 23, while the result is expected to be announced on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan around late December 2026. According to the embassy, digital logo designs in JPEG, PDF or EPS format should be sent by email with the subject line Logo Entry to the Southwest Asian Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Each entry must also include a separate explanation of the design in about 80 words, so that the reasoning behind the choice of symbols, colours and shapes is available to those who review the entries. Detailed competition guidelines have been published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for participants who need further information.

The embassy listed several conditions that every entry must meet. The design must be original, previously unpublished and free from any third party copyright issues, which places responsibility on each participant to confirm that the work belongs to them before it is sent. Entries that contain offensive, unlawful, politically or religiously promotional, culturally or socially insensitive, commercial or otherwise inappropriate content will be disqualified from the competition. The embassy added that the use of generative artificial intelligence in logo designs is not allowed, so every submission has to be created by the person who enters it, using their own skills and tools rather than automated image generation.

Taken together, the rules describe a competition that is open to a wide group of participants while remaining strict about originality and suitability. A short deadline of October 23 gives interested designers a limited period to prepare a digital file and a brief written explanation, and the late December announcement leaves time before the 75th anniversary year begins in 2027. Once the winning logo is selected, it will serve as the official mark for the celebrations, appearing across the events and activities planned for the year. The embassy has encouraged citizens of both countries to participate and express in visual form the friendship and partnership that have developed between Japan and Pakistan since diplomatic relations were established.
