The Islamabad police have implemented an upgrade to the Digital License Management System (DLMS), enhancing the tracking of suspects and e-challan defaulters. The Safe City Command and Control Center recently provided the Police Khidmat Center and traffic offices with a list of 145 violators. Subsequently, 82 violators settled a total of 995 e-challans at the traffic offices, while strict actions, including license suspensions, were taken against the remaining 63 individuals.
The fully operational Digital License Management System was updated earlier this month, and traffic rules violators are urged to settle their e-challans promptly to avoid legal consequences.
CPO Safe City/Traffic revealed that Safe City cameras and the recently introduced Brief Cam alerts are utilized to identify vehicles belonging to e-challan violators, ensuring compliance with legal requirements. This initiative aligns with the recent crackdown launched by Islamabad police against traffic law violators, following directives from Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk.
Virk reported a notable decrease of 38,000 traffic violation cases in October and November 2023 compared to the same period last year. He attributed this achievement to enhanced fines and the registration of cases against serious violations, with a particular focus on underage drivers and one-way violators.
