Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has made biometric verification a mandatory requirement for issuing stamp papers. The initiative aims to prevent forgery, streamline transactions, and ensure the authenticity of legal documents.
According to an ICT administration spokesperson, stamp papers issued without biometric authentication will no longer be considered valid. The new system integrates biometric verification with each document, ensuring a secure and foolproof mechanism to verify the identity of individuals involved in transactions. This initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize public services and prevent fraudulent activities that have plagued the legal documentation process.
The ICT administration has instructed all stamp vendors to strictly adhere to the biometric verification process. Vendors failing to comply with the new regulation will face penalties, including disqualification from issuing stamp papers. Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon highlighted the significance of the move, stating that it is a crucial step in eliminating counterfeit stamp papers and ensuring legal security for citizens.
This decision follows numerous reports of fraudulent activities involving fake stamp papers, which have caused financial losses and legal complications for individuals and businesses. The lack of an efficient verification mechanism had previously allowed forgery to thrive, leading to disputes over property transactions, legal agreements, and other official dealings. The introduction of biometric verification is expected to drastically reduce these cases by providing a transparent and tamper-proof method of issuing stamp papers.
Citizens and legal professionals have welcomed the move, emphasizing that it will strengthen trust in legal documentation and reduce the risks associated with fraudulent papers. By ensuring that only verified individuals can obtain stamp papers, the new system will provide an added layer of protection for official transactions. With the implementation of biometric authentication, the ICT administration aims to set a precedent for other regions in Pakistan to adopt similar measures, enhancing security and trust in legal documentation across the country.
