Islamabad International Airport has introduced a new digital facility aimed at improving passenger convenience and modernising airport services. The Pakistan Airports Authority announced that the airport has launched a fully digital Lost and Found system developed by its in-house IT team. The development marks a meaningful step in the airport’s ongoing push to replace manual, paper-based processes with technology-driven alternatives that offer passengers greater transparency and faster resolution when travelling through the capital’s busiest air travel hub.

Under the new system, passengers can report and track lost items online through a digital platform designed to improve transparency, speed up processing, and simplify recovery procedures. The facility will allow travellers to monitor the status of their lost belongings digitally instead of relying on traditional manual processes. Previously, passengers who misplaced items at the airport had to navigate manual reporting channels that were prone to delays, limited visibility, and inconsistent follow-up, creating a frustrating experience particularly for transit passengers or those who only discovered a loss after departing the terminal. The new system addresses these pain points by creating an auditable, trackable digital record from the moment a report is filed through to the point of item recovery or closure.

The Lost and Found system is the latest in a series of technology-led upgrades that Islamabad International Airport has introduced in recent months as part of a broader digital transformation strategy. Earlier this year, Islamabad International Airport became Pakistan’s first fully cashless airport as part of broader digital transformation efforts, a milestone that positioned it as a benchmark for modernisation within Pakistan’s aviation sector. The fact that the new Lost and Found system was developed entirely by the Pakistan Airports Authority’s own IT team rather than outsourced to an external vendor is also significant, reflecting a growing internal technology capability within the authority that can be applied to future digital service improvements across Pakistan’s airport network.
