Internet services across Pakistan are currently experiencing widespread disruptions due to an outage affecting one of the upstream providers, according to an official statement from Nayatel. The issue has reportedly impacted a major portion of nationwide internet traffic, causing slow connections and degraded performance for users in multiple cities. Internet-dependent services including work-from-home setups, online education, e-commerce, and digital communications have all been affected as connectivity deteriorates across the country.

In an official post on its communications channels, Nayatel explained that one of its two upstream providers is facing technical difficulties, which has directly influenced the quality of internet services delivered to end users. The company noted that a substantial share of internet traffic has been disrupted, resulting in inconsistent access to online platforms and slower browsing speeds. While the problem is concentrated on the affected upstream link, the knock-on effects have been felt widely due to the interconnected nature of Pakistan’s internet infrastructure.

Nayatel stated that its technical teams are actively monitoring the situation and are coordinating closely with the upstream provider to restore normal services as soon as possible. The company emphasized that resolving the outage requires alignment with the upstream network and troubleshooting at multiple layers of the internet delivery chain. Despite these ongoing efforts, no definitive timeline has been provided for when full connectivity will be restored, leaving customers reliant on interim solutions and alternative connections for critical online needs.

The disruption highlights the dependence of Pakistan’s digital ecosystem on upstream infrastructure and the importance of network redundancy for service continuity. Telecom analysts point out that while ISPs maintain multiple upstream providers to mitigate risk, outages at key points can still have significant effects on both consumer and enterprise connectivity. This incident underlines the growing need for investment in resilient network architecture, enhanced monitoring tools, and proactive maintenance strategies to support uninterrupted broadband access. Users are advised to monitor updates from service providers and remain prepared for intermittent connectivity until the situation is fully resolved.
