Institute of Business Administration Karachi has announced that HackZoneLabs, a cybersecurity training and education platform developed by graduates of the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, has received official approval from National Computer Emergency Response Team Pakistan. The platform has also been included in the National Indigenous Cyber Solutions Registry, a national framework that recognizes locally developed cybersecurity technologies contributing to Pakistan’s digital security ecosystem.
HackZoneLabs was developed by graduates of the Computer Science program at Institute of Business Administration Karachi as an indigenous cybersecurity training platform designed to strengthen technical skills and practical learning in the field of cyber defense. Its recognition by National Computer Emergency Response Team Pakistan highlights the growing contribution of academic institutions and student innovators in building locally developed cybersecurity solutions. The inclusion of the platform in the National Indigenous Cyber Solutions Registry reflects the increasing importance of homegrown technologies in strengthening Pakistan’s digital resilience and cybersecurity preparedness.
Officials at Institute of Business Administration Karachi acknowledged the contributions of the students behind the initiative, including Ahmar Ayaz, Haider Saeed Khan, Ali Asghar Hussain, and Rayyan Masood, whose efforts led to the development of the platform. The project was supported by academic guidance from faculty members and advisors, including Mian Muhammad Waseem Iqbal, who served as Scientific and Academic Advisor to the initiative. The university also recognized the support and encouragement provided by Haider Abbas, Director General and Head of National Computer Emergency Response Team Pakistan, and Asif Raza Kazmi, Director at the Technology Development Center of National Computer Emergency Response Team Pakistan.
The achievement has also been supported by the leadership of the School of Mathematics and Computer Science at Institute of Business Administration Karachi. The institution acknowledged the continued encouragement provided by Dean Shakeel Khoja and Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science Shahid Hussain in promoting student led innovation and indigenous technology development. The recognition of HackZoneLabs reflects the broader commitment of Institute of Business Administration Karachi to fostering research, innovation, and practical technological solutions that contribute to Pakistan’s national cybersecurity ecosystem.
