The Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with the Embassy of China in Pakistan, has launched a short video contest to mark the 75th anniversary of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations in 2026. The initiative was announced through the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and is open to participants who wish to creatively document and celebrate the enduring partnership between the two countries through the medium of short-form video content. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2026, giving participants several months to develop and produce their entries.

The contest offers three content themes for participants to choose from, each reflecting a different dimension of the bilateral relationship. The first theme, “75 Years of China-Pakistan Friendship,” invites creators to explore the historical depth and breadth of the two countries’ ties across decades of cooperation. The second, “Chinese Stories Around Me,” encourages a more personal and observational lens, asking participants to document the Chinese influence, presence, and stories they encounter in their own surroundings. The third theme, “China-Pakistan Youth Striving Together for a Shared Future,” is forward-looking, centering on the role that young people from both nations are playing in shaping the next chapter of the relationship. Participants are required to select one theme and build their video around it.

On the production side, all entries must be original, suitable for public broadcasting, and no longer than three minutes in duration. In a notable feature of the contest that reflects the growing role of artificial intelligence in creative work, participants are actively encouraged to use Chinese artificial intelligence tools for script writing, video production, and dubbing, integrating cutting-edge technology into the storytelling process. The contest presents a meaningful opportunity for Pakistani students and young creators to engage with the China-Pakistan relationship in a creative and substantive way, while also building skills in digital content production at a time when video creation is increasingly central to professional and public communication.
