Thai motorcycle brand GPX has officially entered Pakistan’s electric two-wheeler segment through the Royal Power Group, launching two electric scooters, the GPX O2 and the GPX O2 Max, as part of a broader market entry that also includes four petrol motorcycles. The electric scooters arrive at a particularly well-timed moment, with Pakistan’s Budget 2026-27 having introduced zero customs duty on electric motorcycle components and the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification programme offering subsidised financing for electric two-wheelers, creating a more supportive policy environment for electric scooter adoption than has previously existed in the country.
The GPX O2 is the entry-level electric scooter in the lineup, offering a claimed range of up to 90 kilometres on a single charge, a top speed of 85 kilometres per hour, and a 72V electrical system. The GPX O2 Max extends the range ceiling to 120 kilometres per charge while retaining the same 85 kilometres per hour top speed and 72V platform as the standard O2, making it a more practical option for riders with longer daily commuting needs or those in cities where charging infrastructure is still limited and a larger single-charge range provides a meaningful buffer. Pricing for both electric scooters has not yet been announced, with the company expected to confirm figures closer to the opening of bookings, which are set to begin by the end of July or the start of August 2026.
The GPX O2 and O2 Max enter a market that is growing but remains price-sensitive, with electric scooter adoption in Pakistan having been constrained by a combination of high upfront costs, limited charging infrastructure in smaller cities, and consumer uncertainty about after-sales support and battery longevity. The Royal Power Group’s decision to bring GPX into Pakistan signals confidence that the combination of improving policy incentives, rising fuel costs driven by global oil market pressures following geopolitical instability, and growing consumer awareness of electric mobility will support viable commercial volumes for a new entrant in the electric scooter segment. GPX’s positioning of its electric scooters alongside a full petrol motorcycle range also means that Royal Power Group dealerships will carry both product categories, giving electric scooter customers access to the same sales and service network as a much larger conventional motorcycle customer base, which should help with the after-sales confidence barrier that has historically discouraged some buyers from choosing electric alternatives.
