Epic Games has launched Fortnite Chapter Seven: Pacific Break following the conclusion of Fortnite Chapter Six: Zero Hour, which drew an impressive 10.5 million in-game participants and over three million livestream viewers worldwide. Chapter Seven introduces an entirely new approach to entering the game, with players now ‘Storm Surfing’ onto the Golden Coast island instead of dropping from the Battle Bus. The updated map offers diverse environments that players can traverse on foot, in vehicles, or via the newly added hot air balloons. Key locations on the island include Battlewood Boulevard, Sandy Strip, Wonkeeland, Humble Hills, Bumpy Bay, and Classified Canyon, each designed to offer unique gameplay experiences.
Alongside the new map, Fortnite Chapter Seven introduces several gameplay mechanics aimed at enhancing strategy and player survival. The update adds drivable reboot vans and a self-revive device for players in the DBNO (down but not out) state, which now includes the ability to roll, tumble away from fire, sprint using Energy, use ziplines, ascend structures, ride as a vehicle passenger, or even be carried in a reboot van. Boss fights remain a strategic highlight, allowing players to defeat characters such as Human Bill, Hush, or Beach Brutus to gain their powers and loot. These abilities provide full health and shield, bonus maximum stats, infinite energy, and unique powers, although positions are made visible to nearby opponents.
Fortnite Chapter Seven also introduces Rift anomalies that appear during each storm phase, summoning loot and granting powerful effects to all participants. To promote fairness, gold bars no longer carry over between matches, encouraging players to spend them strategically before a match ends to reboot teammates, acquire equipment, or purchase items from vending machines. Players can also now drop gold bars to share resources with teammates. Additional quality-of-life improvements include redesigned hit markers, better weapon visibility, ammo indicators, the ability to aim down sights while jumping, improved spectator mode, and an overhauled emote wheel.
The update also brings a range of new weapons designed for responsive gameplay, including the Iron Pump Shotgun, Twin Hammer Shotguns, Deadeye Assault Rifle, Holo Rush SMG, Vengeful Sniper Rifle, Arc-Lightning Gun, and the Forsaken Vow Blade, which offers rapid strikes. The wingsuit allows players to glide across the Golden Coast island, enhancing movement options. Several fan-favorite items return from the Vault, including All Terrain Karts, Enforcer AR, Tactical Pistol, Dual Micro SMG, Shockwave and Clinger grenades, Chug Jugs, Shield Kegs, Med Kits, and various shield and healing potions. Zero Build mode features Shield Bubble Jrs and Port-a-Bunkers.
The Fortnite Chapter Seven Battle Pass enables players to unlock characters such as The Bride, Marty McFly, and Fortnite originals like Miles Cross and Cat Holloway, along with a refreshed Dark Voyager. Special styles for Cat Holloway, Carter Wu, and Dark Voyager (Reality Redacted) can be unlocked through completing specific quests in Blitz Royale, Reload, and Battle Royale modes, adding further incentives for players to explore the new content.
With these updates, Epic Games continues to expand Fortnite’s universe, offering players a mix of fresh exploration, strategic depth, and competitive gameplay designed to maintain engagement across its global community.
